Those of you who have read the history of the hall will know that it has been at the centre of village life for almost half a century. The hope of the committee is that it will continue to be so for the next fifty years and onward. Over the past ten years the committee has transformed the hall and put on events from Shakespeare (with a twist!) to Sheelanagig, and a brilliant Abba tribute band!
These are just a few of the events organised by the Parish Hall, which have attracted a full house. Sadly, COVID-19 and more recently the cost of living, have put a halt to our plans for more events, except for the wonderful community film nights which are up and running again. Clearly, it is now time for us to re-assess our programme and consult with the ever-growing population of the village. So please look out for our short questionnaire. We would really appreciate feedback so that the hall’s potential can be fully realised.
We want it to be a warm, attractive, safe and welcoming place for everyone who uses it. A place for celebrations, gatherings, learning and relaxing, working and playing. A place where you can dance the night away and watch your child learn to play with others. A place where you can start up a small business, or join a class, watch a film, listen to music, improve your tummy muscles, train your puppy, train
your mind, throw a pot, attend a meeting. A place to hold a wedding reception and a place for memorials. The potential uses are endless, we are always open to fresh ideas, and suggestions for new activities are always welcome.
We are not complacent, so to ensure that we provide the village with a hall that meets the needs of the growing population we are looking to the future and the necessity to adapt to changing interests. Also, we need to be aware of the issues of the age, become more efficient and employ measures to lessen our impact on the environment- there is much to do!
We make every effort to keep the rates we charge for hiring the hall as affordable as possible but as everyone will understand the cost of running the hall is ever increasing. As wonderful as the hall is, it is not in the first flush of youth! Inevitably some costly upgrading Is necessary.
However, to support the village, there are preferential rates for local groups who use the hall weekly, charitable causes and children's parties. There is a link to the statement confirming the aims of the Parish Hall committee here and a link to a comments page for your thoughts here.
